Some evenings are remembered not because of the occasion itself, but because of the atmosphere created around it.
For this Halloween dinner, Botanical Rooftop was transformed into an intimate setting of candlelight, seasonal flavors and carefully chosen details. Rather than focusing on spectacle, the evening celebrated simple moments: sharing a table, enjoying seasonal food and slowing down long enough to appreciate the company around it. Some dinners begin when you take your seat.
This one began the moment the front door opened.
Guests were welcomed into an atmosphere carefully designed to awaken curiosity from the very first step. Dim orange lighting transformed the entrance, a talking skull greeted everyone as they arrived, and every transition through the house revealed another unexpected detail.
Halloween decorations, suspended bats, seasonal flowers, candlelight and printed menus all became part of a story that slowly unfolded before anyone even reached the table.
By the time dinner was served, the experience had already begun.
A Celebration of Mystery
For Carol, Halloween has never been about fear.
It is a celebration of imagination, symbolism and transformation a moment when ordinary spaces can become something completely unexpected.
That perspective inspired every creative decision behind the evening. Rather than recreating a traditional Halloween celebration, the goal was to design an atmosphere that felt elegant, immersive and full of small discoveries.
From the first candle to the final course, every element invited guests to experience Halloween through curiosity, beauty and thoughtful design instead of spectacle.
The Menu
The menu became a natural extension of the evening itself.
Inspired by the colors, textures and ingredients of the season, each course was carefully designed to complement the atmosphere rather than compete with it. From the mysterious black pumpkin gazpacho to the comforting apple and blackberry crumble, every dish reflected the spirit of Halloween through subtle details and thoughtful presentation.
More than a sequence of courses, the menu became part of the story—inviting guests to discover new flavors while reinforcing the sense of surprise that defined the entire experience.
Every Detail Had a Purpose
Every object, every light, every flower and every course was intentionally chosen to contribute to the atmosphere.
Nothing was decorative for the sake of decoration. Every element invited guests to slow down, observe and become part of the story unfolding around the table.
It is this attention to detail that transforms a dinner into something people continue talking about long after the evening has ended.
An Evening to Remember
Some evenings are measured by the food that was served.
